About me

I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Computer Science & Engineering Department at the Pennsylvania State University. As a member of the Laboratory for Perception, Action and Cognition (LPAC) lab, I am working on human pose estimation from image and video data. My adviser is Dr. Robert Collins. I expect to graduate at the end of 2010. I recieved my Masters of Computer Science & Engineering from the Technical University of Munich, which is also where I grew up.

Previous to joining the LPAC lab I worked as a senior research scientist at VideoMining, managing the development of an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) device that allows people with motor disabilities to interface with a computer through means of hand and facial gestures (at a time before the company refocused its misson).

Research Interest

My research interests include object detection and tracking, human computer interaction and gesture recognition as well as low-level image processing. Much of my current and previous work revolves around detecting and tracking humans in various forms and situations, with an emphasize to enable real-world applications.
