Computational Symmetry: Past, Present, and Future
Rotation Symmetry

Rotation Sample

We provide a data set of 20 images with rotation symmetry. 10 of them have a single rotation center, such as the one shown above, 10 of them have multiple rotation centers. With the images, we provide ground truth files, which label and describe the rotation symmetries in the image.

The information in the ground truth files follows this format for each row:

X Y | W H | F | T

Where:

X = x-coordinate of rotation center (in pixels)
Y = y-coordinate of rotation center (in pixels)
W = width (in pixels) of an ellipse indicating the area exhibiting symmetry
H = height (in pixels) of an ellipse indicating the area exhibiting symmetry
F = # of folds (the # of repetitions in one rotation)
T = the type of symmetry: D for dihedral or C for cyclic
